I know I promised to post some comments about the Intranets '07 conference and my workshop, but I've been a little distracted. Some of what I've been reading the last few days...
- Very unexpected, comedian and author Stephen Fry now has a blog but his first entry is an essay on the Apple iPhone. That's right Stephen Fry is a tech blogger. And I mean essay. His blog is here http://www.stephenfry.com/blog/.
- Care of Luis, Andy Piper shares his slides on Social Media @ IBM. Piper's presentation makes nice combination with my Intranet 2.0 slides.
- Meanwhile, some research from an advertising firm tells us that Americans would rather play on the Internet than have a relationship with someone. Hmm. I think it was Ross Dawson who might have said this, we have better weather in Australia so the web life/real life balance issue isn't such of a problem here ;-) Jack Vinson also finds an alternative reason for information overload that might relate to this... is the web life just an excuse to avoid the boring stuff in real life? (Hmm, on reflection is my blogging an exuse too?)
- Also, if you haven't actually ever read McAfee's original article on Enterprise 2.0... get it while you can.
The other distraction has been Yahoo! Pipes. As part of my recent episode of blog housekeeping I wanted to see if I could filter some spam blogs out of my My Cosmos feed. But since I built the My Cosmos pipe, Yahoo! have added a whole bunch of new functionality, which I'm playing with right now...
Anyway, I will write something soon about Intranets '07. I promise, just once get over these other distractions...
Thanks for the shout-out. You're right, the two decks do work well together. Particularly impressed with yours - very nice visually, clear, and the discussion builds nicely.
