Talking of information appliances... I remembered that Vodafone in Australia have recently released a range of budget mobilephones that focus on long talktime but minimal features. Apparently people "were often dissatisfied when fancy features such as video phones had compromised battery life". While they aren't the first to do this, it's a good reminder that sometimes less is more.
